Indy 500

This summer my friend and I drove down to Indiana to see the Indy 500. We drove down to Indiana and the car ride took about 6 hours. Once we arrived in Indiana we went straight to the hotel and slept. We arrived in Indiana at 1 in the morning. The following day we went to the Indianopolis mall. The mall was pretty nice but it was not nearly as nice as the Mall of America. There was a Gameworks in the mall and we spent about 5 hours there. After Gameworks we went to go see Iron Man. When Iron Man finished we went out to a Restaurant named Al's Steaks which had the best steaks ive ever had in my whole life. The following day was the Indy 500. We woke up around 6 in the morning to get on the bus to go to the stadium. There were thousands of cars and people there. The line itself took more than 3 hours due to the amount of people there. The race took about 3-4 hours. Each lap was a little more than 2 miles and they had to do 500 laps. That day was about 100 degrees outside. When the race finished we got on the bus and went back to the hotel. By the time we got back to the hotel it was already 12 at night. We went straight to bed when we got back. The following day we got to sleep in until 12 and then we had to leave to go home.

My Trip To Turkey

This summer (August) my family, including grandparents and uncles, traveled to Turkey. The reason we all went to Turkey was because my uncle recently married a Turk. The wedding took place in Minnesota, but for all the Turks that could not come we decided to have a big wedding reception in Turkey. This was the first time I had ever been on a plane. It was a 10 hour flight, which I think was way too long. The first day we arrived in Turkey we stayed and ate at our hotel in Istanbul. We were wiped out from the long plane ride. The second day we walked around Istanbul. Istanbul is the same size as St. Paul, but St. Paul has a population of 300,000 and Istanbul has a population of 17 million. As you can imagine there was barely any empty space there. It was buildings and apartments everywhere. After the first few days we rented a bus to take us down to Ephesus (city of ruins) which was located on the Asian side of Turkey. It was about a 8 hour drive to Ephesus. Ephesus had many ruins that have been excavated such as theatres, roads and libraries. After staying in Ephesus for about 2 days we drove 4 hours up to the city of Troy. Personally, Troy was one of my favorite parts of this trip. A lot of Troy was destroyed from previous archeologists, but there was still a lot to see there. After being in Troy for a day and a half we drove back to Istanbul which took another 4 hours. Once we reached Istanbul again, we explored many local cites where my new aunt grew up. She also showed us several Mosques (Muslim Churches). The Mosques had tilework everywhere in the inside. This trip took about 2 weeks. It was one of my most memorable experiences I have ever had.

Scotts

my name is scott schultz. this is my super cool blog, which i will personalize and make my own(but not post pics of myself on or use my last name on). I will always use appropriate language on my school blog and follow the conventions of the English language. The expectation of this assignment is that i post on my blog once a week for the remainder of the school year. I am expected to comment on texts that i am viewing in the world around me. These might include, but are not limited to: books, magazines, movies , internet articles, television shows, trips to museums, etc.
Each post should be at least 200 words. Each weekly post is due by 8am on that wednesday. Therefore, Q1 due dates are 9/17, 9/24, 10/1, 10/8 , 10/15, 10/22, and 10,29. That makes a total of 7 posts this first quarter. i understand that blogs are worth 100 points per quarter and are graded holistically( i will receive the rubric from Mrs. B soon). I also understand that blogging is a significant component of my quarter grade. By the way, what i have just typed is only 196 words! now it is 200!
